Privacy Policy

Last updated October 10, 2026

This is the website of Chris Cooper, author. The short version: I collect as little about you as I can. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies here, and I will never sell or share your details.

The Quiet Hour newsletter

If you sign up, I ask only for your email address. It goes to MailerLite, the service that stores the list and sends the letters. Along with your address, MailerLite records the date and the IP address you signed up from, as proof that you asked to join.

You won’t be added until you click the link in the confirmation email. Every letter has an unsubscribe link, or you can email me and I’ll remove you. Like most newsletter services, MailerLite tells me whether a letter was opened and which links in it were clicked. You can read MailerLite’s privacy policy for how they handle your data.

To keep bots from flooding the signup form, the site remembers a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for ten minutes after you sign up, then forgets it.

Cookies

This site doesn’t set any cookies for visitors. The only cookies it uses are the login cookies for me, when I’m editing the site.

Link-in-bio click counts

On my link-in-bio page, the site counts how many times each link is tapped per day, so I know which ones are useful. Only the totals are kept. Nothing about you is sent or stored.

Server logs

Like every website, the company that hosts this one keeps standard server logs: the IP address, browser type and pages requested for each visit. They’re used for security and fixing problems, and kept for a limited time. I don’t use them to identify anyone.

Affiliate links

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy a book through one of my Amazon links, I get a small commission at no extra cost to you. When you follow one, Amazon may use cookies on its own site to record that you came from mine. Amazon’s privacy notice covers that.

Links to other sites

When you follow a link to a bookshop, an event venue or a social network, that site’s own privacy policy applies.

Your data, your call

You can ask me for a copy of what I hold about you, or ask me to correct or delete it, at hello@dreadfulwriter.com. If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.

Login Security

If someone tries to log in to the site’s admin area and gets the password wrong, the site keeps a record of that IP address for a short time to block password guessing. This only affects people trying to log in, not visitors reading the site.
